‘TAKING IT TO ANOTHER LEVEL’

Whether you are brand new Christian writer or an established author, a non-fiction writer or a creator of kids’ lit, the 2022 Omega Writers Conference is for you. This year’s line-up of speakers has been deliberately curated to encourage, resource and inspire you on your writing journey. With ample opportunities to network with other likeminded and supportive writers, you will leave with new ideas, new connections, and a renewed excitement for your writing project. This is a not-to-miss conference for Christian writers!

SPEAKERS

Keynote speaker and fiction workshop presenter: Steven James

Steven is a best-selling author of more than three dozen psychological thrillers, including his multiple Christy Award-winning Bowers Files series. Steven’s latest novel, Synapse, is set in the near future, and was a finalist at the International Book Awards in the Science Fiction category.

Steven also holds a Master’s Degree in Storytelling, and is an international teacher of writing and storytelling.  He writes short fiction, and his works have appeared in Writer’s Digest and the New York Times. When he isn’t writing or storytelling, you can hear Steven interview other writers and storytellers on his podcast, The Story Blenders.

Plenary speakers: Collett Smart and Lystra Rose

  • Collett will be presenting a plenary session on Self-Compassion, Resilience, and Well-being for Writers, as well as a very practical non-fiction workshop.
  • Lystra Rose, winner of the Black&Write Writing Fellowship will present on ‘The unspoken rules of Indigenous protocols every writer should know.’

THE HUB

An opportunity for conference delegates to book appointments with agents, publishers, editors and industry experts to discuss their work in progress, or to pitch a manuscript ready for submission. Writers will gather valuable feedback, suggestions and guidance, as well as increase their understanding of the publishing process. Appointments are on a first in first served basis and can be made on registration.

Covid refunds: If conference is cancelled due to Covid, refunds from Omega are straightforward.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation options include on site accommodation at either Peppers Salt Resort and Spa, Kingscliff, or at Mantra on Salt Beach, Kingscliff. Mantra is located right next to Peppers, and is a literal two-minute walk from the conference venue.Prices are special conference rates (starting at $195 per night for one guest including buffet breakfast; $220 for 2 guests including buffet breakfast) and will also be available for two nights either side of conference.

IMPORTANT TIMES TO NOTE

Shuttle leaves Coolangatta airport 1pm QUEENSLAND TIME so please make sure you’re there by 12:30pm at the latest. Information of where to meet will be sent to delegates who register for the shuttle service.

Conference registration and afternoon tea are at Peppers from 3pm NSW time on Friday 7 October.

Conference opens 3:30pm, Friday 7 October, in the Ballroom

Conference concludes 2:00 pm Sunday 9 October

Shuttle leaves Peppers 2:30 pm Sunday Oct 9, arrives at Coolangatta airport approximately 1:50pm QUEENSLAND TIME
