If you have written a book for a Christian audience, it’s natural to seek out a Christian bookshop to help you sell it.
In the 1990s Australia had over 250 Christian bookshops, including five large chains with multiple locations and standalone stores dotted in both city and regional areas.
Since then, the religious face of Australia, as well as the global publishing landscape, have changed. So the number of stores is now much smaller.
However, we have pooled the knowledge of our Omega members to collate the list below.
The Omega list of Australian and New Zealand Christian bookshops
This list is complete at the time of publishing, however the landscape changes fast! We review it regularly, but if you spot out of date information or can think of a Christian bookshop we should add, please contact us!
National (Multiple locations across all states and territories except NT)
- Koorong is the largest Christian bookshop chain in Australia.
- Adventist Book Centre (online and in SAD churches) is a collection of small stores associated with the Seventh Day Adventist tradition.
Queensland
- Cleveland Christian Book Centre (Cleveland) is an independent Christian bookshop
New South Wales
- Reformers Bookstore (Sydney) sells Christ-centred, biblically-based books in the reformed tradition
- Wandering Bookseller (AKA The Little Lost Bookshop) is a physical bookstore in Katoomba. They also run book stalls for Christian events across the country.
- Corner Stone Books (Erina) is an independent Christian bookstore.
- Open Doors Bookshop (Temora) and activity of Temora Lutheran Community Church.
South Australia
- Good Samaritan Bookstore (Mannun) is an activity of the Mid-Murray Lutheran Parish
- Barossa Ark (Nuriootpa) is an independent gift and book shop.
Victoria
- Jacob’s Well Christian Bookshop (Horsham) sells Christian and Christianity-related titles.
- Reader’s Emporium (Traralgon) is a secular bookshop stocking Christian titles.
- Abundant Life Books (Portland) is a ministry of Good Shepherd Baptist Church.
New Zealand
- Manna Christian Stores (multiple locations) is a New Zealand-based Christian book store chain.
- Sonshine Bookcentre (Tauranga, North Island) is a New Zealand-based Christian bookshop.
